WISE/BLM Hikes and Education Events most Thursdays all summer

Thursday, June 20th—Tonsina Bluff Hike 11am Kenny Lake School

Explore the Tonsina Bluff Interpretive Trail. Bring a sack lunch. Return by 1pm

 

Thursday, June 27th-Aspen Trail Hike 11am BLM Glennallen Field Office

Explore the Aspen Interpretive Trail, eat your sack lunch along the way, return by 1pm.

 

Thursday, July 11th—Mud Volcano Hike 12:30 Tolsona Wilderness Campground

Meet at Tolsona Wilderness Campground, Mile 173 Glenn Highway. Minimum Age 7. Mud boots

required! Return by 3pm. Group size is limited, so sign up early.

 

July 16-17th— Aquatic Ecology Camp Silver Lake, McCarthy Road

Youth ages 10-16 will spend three days learning about ecosystems and careers in Aquatic Ecology. Call WISE 822-3575 to register. $40 Fee, scholarships available.

 

Thursday, August 1st—Liberty Falls Hike 10am, Kenny Lake Mercantile

Hike up the Liberty Falls Trail. Group size is limited, so sign up early.

 

Thursday, August 8th—Tangle Lakes Blueberry Picking 9am BLM Office

A full day of berry picking. Dress warmly and bring containers. Return at 4:30pm.

 

June 26-28th, Project Healing Water at Tangle Lakes

 

July 12-14th Edible and Useful Wild Plants Workshop with Janice Schofield  Kenny Lake Community Hall

 

National Public Lands Day—this year’s project will be cleaning up Chitina Fishwheel area.

 

Early September—Changing Seasons program-at all school with 2nd and 3rd graders

 

October 6-12  World Wilderness Congress in Spain
