Education Programs

WISE has something to offer everyone. The support of businesses, individuals, and organizations has allowed WISE to maintain and even add more opportunities to our spectrum of learning through the years.

As winter begins to abate, WISE and its partners put on the ever-popular Family Ice Fishing Day. During the first week in May, WISE offers Earth Discovery Day to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.

When June begins, it’s time for ten high school students to take a life-changing journey through the Copper River Basin with the Copper River Stewardship Program. Aquatic Ecology Camp gives middle and high school students a break from the July heat. While the weather is warm, WISE partners with BLM to bring to offer children a chance to explore the natural wonders of their home through the Youth Hikes. For some getting outdoors can be especially beneficial but also more complicated, that’s why WISE has partnered with BLM and Project Healing Waters to bring our wounded veterans the chance to fly-fish at Tangle Lakes.

Before the leaves fall off the trees, WISE travels to all the schools in the Copper River School District to explain the wonders of Autumn in Changing Seasons.

Winters are undoubtedly harsh in the Copper River Basin, but we don’t shut-down. WISE helps local schools to meet state and national science standards through our In-Class Science program. Our Science Lecture Series also brings experts from the across the state to explore topics ranging from earthquakes to wood frogs with local citizens.
